Description

The District of Kazimierz is the historically Jewish part of Krakow, whose narrow streets and alleyways are full of interesting Jewish architecture. Founded in 1335 by King Kazimierz the Great, this district used to be a separate city altogether. During this tour, we will take you to Krakow’s former Jewish district of Kazimierz – now an artistic center filled with designer cafés. Populated by buildings that witnessed the gruesome Holocaust, Kazimierz is a place where Jewish culture flourished prior to World War II. For this reason, it was chosen as the setting for Steven Spielberg’s Oscar-winning film, Schindler’s List. We will then continue to the district of Podgórze to see Oskar Schindler’s factory and remnants of the World War II ghetto.
